Bayside Barista

Bayside Barista is situated in Safety Bay, roughly 45mins south of Perth. It is Western Australia’s only 100% GLUTEN FREE cafe accredited by Coeliac Australia.

I heard about the Bayside Barista via a few of the WA forums and also read about their new certification from an article in the West Australian. So my partner and I planned a Saturday to make the journey south for brunch. It is a bit of a drive from my neck of the woods, but once you’re on the freeway, it isn’t too bad. The restaurant itself is on the corner of a little row of shops and is only a short stroll from Safety Bay foreshore which is really nice for a stroll along after. The cafe itself has a really nice layout, comfy seats and is nice and open with windows on three sides and plenty of greenery.

Both the owners are really friendly and welcoming and you can tell they have put in a lot of effort to get the cafe to where it is and they are really proud of what they have. The menu is extensive with a big range of brekky and lunch items and there are also regular specials that change frequently. The coffee is great, the tea is awesome and there are also some amazing snacks and desserts available from the front cabinet. The best thing though? The portions and the quality. There is absolutely no skimping on anything. It’s big and colourful and really tasty. So far everything I have had has been spot on. If I lived closer, I’d be there daily it is that good.
