After following the progress of TWØBAYS for the last year or so, I was really excited to see the launch of their brewery and taproom in the Mornington Peninsula.
“Richard Jeffares loved craft beer until he was diagnosed with coeliac disease in 2015. On a strict gluten free diet, he couldn’t find the quality and variety of craft beer he’d fallen in love with in Australia. He feared he’d never do a tasting paddle with mates again. On a road trip through America a year ago, Richard discovered brewers making gluten free beer that was just as good – if not better – than the beers he remembered. Richard returned home inspired and launched TWØBAYS Brewing Co in 2017.”
And I’m glad he did. His beer is amazing and finally it has made it to this side of the country! After exploring some options and working on the logistics, TWØBAYS beer is now being stocked by a few stores in Perth. I was lucky to get my hands on a sneaky 4pk of the IPA a few weeks back from the awesome folk at Gangemi’s Fine Wine and Foods in West Perth and I can safely say this is the best GF beer I have tasted. It showcases Simcoe and Mosaic hops and it’s packed full of flavour. It has all the fruit and that comforting smell and taste of piney hops that you’ve missed for so long… It is also fully endorsed by Coeliac Australia! As of now, I believe both Gangemi’s and the Freo Doctor Liquor Store are stocking the IPA and their new Ollie’s Hoppy Brown which i’m yet to taste. Hopefully more stores will be stocking their range in the future. I’ll keep you up to date when I find out more. If these shops are too far out of the way, you can order on line with the shipping only $5 Australia wide!
